WASHINGTON: In light of escalating conflicts in the Middle East, U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to delay his upcoming trip to China, according to officials at the White House.
During a briefing, President Trump explained that his focus remains on the current regional crisis, stating, “Due to the ongoing war with Iran, I believe it’s best for me to stay in the United States.” He emphasized the importance of addressing the tensions at home during this critical period.
The president also announced that his scheduled meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping will be rescheduled. According to reports, the original dates for the visit were set from March 31 to April 2, but these have now been postponed, with China reportedly having no objections to the change.
Additionally, Trump took to Truth Social to share his thoughts on possible military actions against Iran. He speculated about the potential outcomes if the Iranian regime were to be eliminated entirely and questioned whether the U.S. should assume responsibility for securing the vital Strait of Hormuz.
He further proposed that the security of the Strait should be entrusted to the nations that rely on it most, asserting that this would motivate less active allies to respond quickly and effectively.
The decision to postpone the visit underscores the tense atmosphere in the Middle East and the cautious approach the U.S. government is adopting amid ongoing regional turmoil.
