ISLAMABAD: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif on Wednesday commended the Pakistan Army’s courage and strategic approach during the recent Wana operation, declaring it a resounding success.
Speaking to the media outside Parliament House, he confirmed that all terrorists involved in the attack had been eliminated without any casualties among Pakistani forces.
He highlighted that the army’s swift and decisive action disrupted a major terror plan, describing the operation as a triumph of bravery and strategic excellence.
The defense minister revealed that the attackers intended to replicate the tragedy of the 2014 Army Public School (APS) massacre in Peshawar, which tragically claimed over 140 lives. He assured that the armed forces effectively foiled this malicious attempt.
Asif emphasized that Pakistan’s military remains vigilant and resolute in neutralizing ongoing threats across the nation. He also called for national unity and urged citizens to support the armed forces through prayers as they continue their efforts against terrorism.
He remarked that the fight against terrorism is ongoing and encouraged people to pray for the success and safety of the armed forces as they work to rid the country of this menace.
His comments coincided with intensified counterterrorism operations in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in South Waziristan, where intelligence-led efforts have focused on dismantling militant hideouts.
On Tuesday night, military sources confirmed that all militants involved in an attack on Cadet College Wana had been neutralized. The operation eliminated a suicide bomber and four additional attackers with no harm to students or staff.
