KARACHI: The judicial commission probing the death of businessman Mir Raza Ali on Tuesday ordered the issuance of a notice to Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, raising concerns over the conduct of the Advocate General during the proceedings.
The commission also expressed concern over the delay in conducting laboratory tests on samples collected from Mir Raza’s body and sought an explanation regarding the pending forensic examination.
Mir Raza, an IBA graduate and businessman, was found dead in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on July 29, a day after he was reported missing. His father has rejected the possibility of suicide and has consistently alleged that his son was murdered.
During the latest proceedings, the commission continued examining the police investigation and the handling of evidence in the case.
A day earlier, the panel questioned several police officials about their role in the investigation and issued a notice to DIG Amir Farooqi, who heads the investigation team, over allegations that relevant records had not been provided to the commission.
The commission is continuing its inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death, with particular focus on the investigation process, forensic evidence and the actions of officials involved in the case.
