Lahore (September 25, 2017): A new full bench was constituted to hear the intra-court appeal of Punajb government against the single member bench order to release of the Model Town inquiry report and other related petitions.
Earlier in the day, the full bench headed by acting Chief Justice Yawar Ali got dissolved after Justice Ali recused himself from the bench on personal grounds.

The new bench will be headed by Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh and comprise Justice Aminuddin Khan and Justice Shahbaz Rizvi.
On Monday the petitions relating to Model Town Judicial Inquiry came up for hearing before a full bench headed by Acting CJ Justice Yawar Ali.
A division bench hearing Punjab government intra-court appeal against the single member bench order to release report o judicial inquiry into Model Town killing also referred the intra-court appeal to the full bench.
When the bench resumed hearing the petition, Justice Ali announced to recused himself from the bench citing personal reasons which led to dissolution of the bench.
The petitions were referred to Chief Justice for constitution of another bench to hear the matter.
On September 21, Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi ordered the Punjab home secretary to make public the report, authored by LHC Justice Baqar Najafi, on the Model Town killings and provide a copy to the families of those killed and injured in the 2014 incident.
The government in its appeal against the decision, challenged the jurisdiction of the single bench to give its decision on the report, on the grounds that as many as eight identical petitions on the same matter were already pending before a full bench.
In the appeal, the government said it was neither asked by the single bench to file any reply nor was put on notice on the matter, adding that it was also not given any opportunity to explain its position on the case.
