Lahore: Mohammad Hafeez, Director Pakistan men’s cricket team, held a press conference ahead of the squad’s departure for Australia, which comprises of three Tests to be played from 14 December 2023 to 7 January 2024.
The director of the national cricket team Muhammad Hafeez said that the tour of Australia was always a challenge, the mindset of the players is clear, they will try to get better results by playing modern day cricket.
Speaking to the media before leaving for Australia, team director Mohammad Hafeez said that every player is ready to play his role. they focus to improve the skills of the players, no doubt Australia has always been a tough competitor. they will try to use the available resources and talent to return home to Australia in the Coast Test series
Talking about Babar Azam’s captaincy, Mohammad Hafeez said that captaincy is an additional responsibility. Babar Azam helped Shan Masood in the camp and no one can deny the services of Babar Azam and he hope that Babar’s batting as a player will help the team more.
Mohammad Hafeez said that a policy is being made regarding giving NOC to players in foreign leagues, the first priority for contracted players should be national responsibility. In response to a question, the former captain said that when contacted, Imad Wasim showed his unavailability for the tour of New Zealand and announced his retirement two days later, while Muhammad Amir said that his target is now foreign leagues instead of the national team.
