Mohsin Naqvi says government, establishment being on the same page upsets many

SUKKUR : Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the efforts of law enforcement agencies for ensuring peace and security during Muharram across Pakistan. He praised the dedicated work of police, Rangers, and intelligence agencies for maintaining a peaceful environment during religious gatherings.

In an interaction with the media in Rohri, Naqvi emphasized that the smooth conduct of Muharram is a testament to the effective coordination among security forces. “Just as terrorists have been eliminated from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a strong joint operation will also be launched against dacoits in the Katcha region by federal and provincial forces,” he stated.

Addressing rumors about President Asif Ali Zardari’s removal, Naqvi dismissed speculation, urging political leaders and the public not to indulge in baseless gossip. “Let’s not play politics for a few more days. Avoid falling for false information circulating on social media,” he advised. Naqvi highlighted the unprecedented unity among politicians, the government, and the military, which some elements are uncomfortable with, leading them to spread rumors. He urged the public to focus on national unity and peace instead of political noise or misinformation.

The Interior Minister reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards religious hatred and sectarianism, warning that any incitement on social media will not be tolerated. He stressed that maintaining law and order remains the government’s top priority, with security forces on high alert to counter any threats from groups like “Fitna-e-Hindustan,” a proxy of India.

Expressing optimism, Naqvi said that with the combined efforts of the government and security agencies, Ashura will pass peacefully nationwide. He shared that around 2,763 Muharram processions are currently being held peacefully across Pakistan, with Sukkur hosting nearly 1 million participants in the 9th Muharram central procession.

To ensure security, central and provincial control rooms have been established for continuous monitoring of all processions and activities, underscoring the government’s commitment to safeguarding religious observances and public safety
