Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) has refused to accept results of census conducted in Karachi and Hyderabad.
Addressing a presser at the MQM-P temporary center of Bahadarabad, Syed Mustafa Kamal raising objection on the census conducted in Karachi and Hyderabad demanded to carry out audit of the process adding that we don’t accept existing census as we have objection on facts and figures of census.
Senior Deputy convener Syed Mustafa Kamal has levelled allegations of committing discrimination. The former mayor said that if population of Karachi and Hyderabad were not counted correctly then don’t expect something us.
Dr Farooq Sattar, Senior Deputy Convener, MQM-P apprised that Karachi’s population is 50 percent of the population of Sindh.
Dr Farooq Sattar said that feudal elite wanted to keep it remain colony of the Sindh.
He said that when we demanded such demand that only “mahajirs” in cities of Sindh be counted. He said that we wanted to count correctly every citizen of the cities of Sindh including mohajir and others belonging to other linguistic minorities.
The MQM-P leaders further added that if the state and its institutions not have willingess to count urban Sindh then they should not have good expectations from us.
They said that the feudal have fears that next chief minister may not come from Karachi adding that if the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairperson wanted to become prime minister then he should first give rights to Urban Sindh.
