Karachi: A threatening message to quit federal as well as provincial governments by Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has shuddered in the politics of Sindh while it has also caused a stir in the federal government.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) delegation will reach Karachi today to remove the reservations of the MQM-P.
The meeting will be held at the Bilawal House around 7 pm. Federal Ministers, MQM-P and leaders of the other party will participate in the meeting.
It is likely that the PML-N delegation will also visit the headquarter of the MQM-P at Bahadurabad.
The MQM-P has reservations on delimitations in Karachi and Hyderabad for local bodies elections which has been announced to be held on January 15 and some measures of coalition partner, the PPP.
Yesterday, MQM-P convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddique addressing a presser at the party headquarter in Bahadurabad along with the members of the coordination committee, had threatened to quit government if new delimitation were not conducted for local bodies elections in Karachi and Hyderabad.
Former mayor Waseem Akhtar, Federal Minister and member of co-ordination committee Amin Ul Haq, Muhammad Waseem other were present at the occasion.
The MQM-P convener Khalid Maqbool Siddique had demanded the ECP to conduct a new delimitation before January 15 in two major cities of Sindh.
He questioned the ECP why it has handed over the delimitation process to Sindh government? and this action is against the constitution and law.
Even the local bodies elections were held on January 10 instead of January 15 , the MQM-P is ready to contest the elections, Khalid added.
He asked Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif what happened to agreements brokered with us ? are you firmed on your guarantee you had given to us?
The MQM-P convener said that the existing delimitation are against constitution and law adding that if delimitation were not conducted the party will compel to stage the protest against the pre-poll rigging.
