Karachi: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday today approved an appeal of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) candidate for contesting the senate elections.
The tribunal of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) annulled the Returning officer (RO) decision.
Najeeb Haroon had filed appeal in election tribunal against the rejection of nomination papers for senate elections.
The election tribunal had sought response on March 25 by issuing notices to election commission and others.
Applicant’s lawyer stated that election commission had rejected nomination papers of Najeeb Haroon due to the financial matters with different banks.
Similarly, Peshawar Appealet Tribunal (PAT) also approved Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Sawati appeal for contesting the senate elections.
The tribunal declared Azam Swati eligible for Senate elections on general seats.
