MULTAN: The Lahore High Court’s Multan Bench on Monday overturned the convictions of three individuals previously sentenced to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of PTI leader Tahir Hameed Qureshi, ruling in their favor based on reasonable doubt.
The accused—Muhammad Haris, Laraib Shahzad, and Ali Raza—had been convicted by a Multan sessions court in a combined robbery and murder case, with sentences of life imprisonment and a fine of Rs.200,000 each.
These men had been in custody since 2022 after FIR No. 990/22 was filed against them at the local police station. They faced charges under Sections 302 (murder) and 392 (robbery) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Following the hearing of their appeals, Justice Tariq Nadeem acquitted all three, citing insufficient evidence and granting them the benefit of the doubt.
