KARACHI: Atif Zaman, accused of murdering AbbTakk News ex-anchor person, confessing the crime has given startling revelations regarding the murder of Mureed Abbass and his friend Khizer Hayat.
According to details, Atif Zaman has recorded his initial statement to police yesterday according to which he said that he has a business of imported tires in which media persons have an investment in it including Mureed Abbass.
The accused said that he was being blackmailed by the Mureed Abbass and his accomplices and after being fed up he killed both of them.
On the other hand, investigation officials said that accused statement is not a final he will be recorded detailed statement after his recovery.
The police officials doing the investigation of the case said that after seeing evidence and CCTV footage it looked as more than one person are involved in the murder.
Interrogation carried out so far, more than Rs 300 million were invested in the imported tires business while Atif Zaman was the main person who received the entire investment.
Interrogators said that a person named Zain had telephoned 15 to inform the police that he saw a man shooting Khizer from a big vehicle while Zain is also an eyewitness of the incident.
According to investigation officials, all were gathered at Atif Zaman office around 8 pm yesterday night wherein dispute erupted over money while when police reached Atif Zaman house to arrest him, he shot himself.
Police sources said that Atif Zaman was complete in his senses when he opened fire on Mureed and Khizer while more persons were present at the crime scene but he targetted Mureed and Khizer only while Atif Zaman wanted to kill five persons.
