KARACHI: MQM-Pakistan leader and Federal Minister Mustafa Kamal has leveled serious allegations against MQM founder Altaf Hussain, claiming he masterminded the assassination of senior party figure Imran Farooq with financial backing from India’s intelligence agency, RAW.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi alongside party officials, Kamal portrayed Hussain as a manipulative figure, alleging that he amassed millions of pounds in donations under the pretext of arranging Farooq’s burial abroad.
,Kamal further claimed that Hussain used the funeral events to gain media attention and allegedly referred to Farooq’s killing as a “birthday gift” to himself, a statement he described as deeply disturbing.
According to Kamal, the suspected involvement of RAW played a role in stalling the Scotland Yard investigation into the murder. He accused Hussain of decades-long misrule, saying his actions crippled Karachi and obstructed constitutional, political, and local government reforms.
“The individual once regarded as a leader is, in reality, a criminal who issued killing orders without hesitation,” Kamal said. He argued that the Muhajir community paid a heavy price for Hussain’s leadership, enduring years of turmoil and instability.
Kamal also asserted that despite living abroad, Hussain continues to exert control over MQM, claiming his influence was so strong that massive crowds could be mobilized instantly on his command. He concluded that Hussain’s legacy has left the community politically weakened and socially damaged.
