The ECP has received the name of the Returning Officer for the by-election.

It may be mentioned here that NA-120, which was carved out of NA-95 and NA-96 in 2002 when constituencies were redrawn, is considered the home constituency of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) since the time Nawaz Sharif entered politics back in 1980.

Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif has been getting elected from this area since the first time he became a member of the Punjab Assembly in 1985 in non-party elections during the military regime of General Zia-ul-Haq. In the 1988 general elections, he contested for National Assembly and Punjab Assembly’s constituencies.

In May 2013 general elections Nawaz Sharif won from the NA-120 constituency defeating PTI’s Yasmin Rashid, who managed to secure over 40,000 votes, to became the prime minister of Pakistan for the third time.

PTI has announced to field Ms. Yasmin Rashid again in the by-election.
