NA finance committee approved MNA’s salaries increased to Rs.519,000

ISLAMABAD: The Finance Committee of the National Assembly has approved equalizing the salary and allowances of Members of Parliament with that of the Federal Secretary.

According to sources, the Finance Committee has approved an increase in the salaries and allowances of MNAs and Senators. The decision was unanimously approved by the Finance Committee of the National Assembly, chaired by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.

Sources said that the salary and allowances of MNAs and Senators have been set at 519,000 rupees, and the Speaker has sent the Finance Committee’s recommendations to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
On the issue of salaries and allowances, parties including PPP and PML-N, as well as other parties, are in agreement. According to sources, 67 members of PTI had also made a written demand for an increase in salaries.

Sources have stated that after all deductions, the monthly salary and allowances of the Federal Secretary are 519,000 rupees, and Members of Parliament will receive facilities equivalent to those of the Federal Secretary.

Parliamentary sources have said that Members of Parliament had demanded a monthly salary of 1 million rupees, but Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq rejected the proposal for a 1 million rupee salary.
