ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has reported an extraordinary recovery of Rs 1.10 trillion (Rs 11.02 trillion) in the third quarter of 2025, representing a remarkable 242% surge compared to the previous quarter. This milestone has been hailed as an “unprecedented achievement” that significantly boosts the national treasury, highlighting NAB’s intensified efforts in anti-corruption and asset recovery initiatives.
An official statement released on Thursday revealed that NAB’s total recoveries for the first three quarters of 2025 have reached Rs 1,649.36 billion (Rs 5.16 trillion). During this period, 17,194 victims of various public fraud schemes received financial restitution. Notably, NAB introduced its first online payment and distribution platform, facilitating digital disbursements to 5,008 victims of the B4U investment scam, thereby enhancing transparency and operational efficiency.
Regional recoveries have been substantial and diverse. In Karachi, NAB recovered two valuable plots worth Rs 2.8 billion from the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) case and returned them to authorities. In Sukkur, NAB retrieved 361 acres of land belonging to the National Highway Authority (NHA), valued at Rs 2.5 billion. One of the most significant recoveries involved the environment sector, where NAB reclaimed 1.39 million acres of mangrove forest land valued at Rs 1,104.97 billion. The total value of recovered forest land across regions has now reached Rs 2,592.74 billion (Rs 9.25 trillion).
In Balochistan, NAB recovered 414,036 acres of forest land valued at Rs 44.8 billion, while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the bureau reclaimed illegally allotted state land worth Rs 3.2 billion, which has been transferred to the Ministry of Industries and Production.
Describing these record-breaking recoveries as evidence of its zero-tolerance stance on corruption, NAB reaffirmed its commitment to retrieving looted public funds and safeguarding national assets. The bureau emphasized its ongoing efforts through digital monitoring, institutional reforms, and strong coordination with federal and provincial bodies to combat corruption effectively.
