NAB conducts raid at Bahria Town Karachi, seizes multiple vehicles

KARACHI: In a recent operation, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) raided Bahria Town Karachi, resulting in the seizure of several vehicles. The confiscated vehicles have since been transferred to the NAB office for further investigation.

The ongoing inquiry pertains to a case involving the illegal allotment of approximately 17,000 acres of land within Bahria Town, which is currently under hearing. Additionally, NAB had previously frozen Bahria Town Karachi’s commercial properties a few months ago as part of its investigations.

In a significant development, the Accountability Court in Karachi has issued an important summons for Malik Riaz, the owner of Bahria Town, along with other key individuals involved in the case. The court has ordered Malik Riaz, his son Ali Riaz, son-in-law Zain Malik, and additional accused to appear before the court and provide their responses by July 15. The summons were published through newspaper advertisements after the accused repeatedly failed to appear in court.

This action follows an order from the Director General of NAB Karachi to confiscate properties associated with Malik Riaz and other involved parties. The NAB’s Special Public Prosecutor has formally submitted a request to the court to confirm the property seizure.
