KARACHI: Sindh High Court on Wednesday, while hearing a hearing petition, reprimanded National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for seizing National Identity Cards of the suspects.

On this occcasion, the under-arrest Sindh Assembly speaker Agha Siraj Durrani’s brother Agha Masih and other suspects who jointly filed the petition appeared before Sindh High Court.

During the hearing, the court inquired NAB’s investigation officer about ownership of the lands which were allotted by the suspects.

Investigation officer responded that the allotted lands were state-owned. Later, SHC’s Chief Justice demanded the officer to present a report on it.

However, NAB officer told that he did not bring the records to the hearing and consequently received criticism from the court.

“Don’t you people [NAB] keep records of the houses you penetrate into? You did recovery after entering into the house so where’s the record? Do you even know what is a recovery memo?”, inquired the judge in an agitated manner.

On this occasion, Agha Masih’s counsel, addressing the court, claimed that NAB officials have CNICs of employees of Agha Siraj’s home in their possession.

The court then expressed its severe annoyance onto the Accountability Watchdogs and remarked that it had no legal authority to confiscate anyone’s CNIC during their raid.

Nonetheless, Sindh High Court adjourned hearing of the case till April 24 and ordered NAB to file references soon after concluding inquires on suspects.
