NADRA announces updated fee for family registration certificate – August 2025

ISLAMABAD: The Family Registration Certificate (FRC) issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is an important document that provides comprehensive details about all members of a family. It plays a crucial role for Pakistani citizens in ensuring that their family members are officially registered with NADRA, which is often a prerequisite for obtaining other official documents.

Citizens can acquire the FRC through three primary methods, Categorized by the basis of registration: birth, marriage, or adoption.Under the birth category, the NADRA-issued certificate lists all family members, including information about parents and siblings. The marriage-based FRC reflects details of the individual’s spouse and children, providing a record of the immediate family linked to the applicant.

The adoption category includes details of the adopted individual along with the guardian’s information, establishing the legal family connection.

It is important to note that individuals without a NADRA-issued 13-digit National Identity Number (CNIC) will not be eligible for inclusion in the Family Registration Certificate.

Pakistani residents can request the FRC either by visiting a NADRA Registration Center (NRC) or via the online Pak-Identity portal. For overseas Pakistanis, the certificate can be obtained through the relevant Pakistani diplomatic missions abroad. As with other official documents, NADRA charges a fixed fee for issuing the Family Registration Certificate. As of August 2025, the fee remains at Rs1,000.
