ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) of Pakistan has introduced a new digital verification system that enables passport applicants to authenticate their identity using a digital version of their national identity card.
As per NADRA, individuals applying for passports at the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports offices within Pakistan or at Pakistani diplomatic missions abroad can now verify their identity via the digital ID stored in the Pak ID mobile app.
The agency highlighted that this service is especially beneficial for applicants who may not have their physical Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) available at the time of submitting their passport application.
Instructions to access the digital ID:
Users can view their digital identity by logging into the Pak ID application, selecting the ‘View Digital ID’ option on the main screen, and then tapping the ‘Digital Card’ button to display their digital identity.
NADRA explained that this initiative aims to offer citizens a more streamlined and modern approach to identity verification, enhancing ease of access to government services through digital solutions.
