WEB DESK: Naila Kiani has become the first Pakistani woman to reach the summit of Kanchenjunga, the world’s third-highest peak at 8,586 meters.
This achievement marks her 12th out of the 14 mountains classified as ‘Eight Thousanders,’ bringing her closer to joining an elite group of just 17 women worldwide who have conquered all 14.
Kiani’s journey to this historic summit is part of her broader mission to complete the formidable list of the world’s highest peaks. With her eyes set on completing all the Eight Thousanders, she now aims to conquer Cho Oyu and Shishapangma, the remaining two in her quest.
Over the past three years, Kiani has made extraordinary progress, becoming the first Pakistani woman to summit 11 of the 14 peaks, including K2, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Annapurna I, Broad Peak, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Gasherbrum I and II, and Nanga Parbat.
Her recent achievements culminated in an unprecedented feat in 2023—climbing seven 8,000-meter peaks within just six months, a feat accomplished by only a select few mountaineers globally.
