ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved fan attendance for all remaining playoff matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11, according to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
Naqvi shared the update after a meeting with the premier, stating that spectators will now be allowed not only for the final already approved earlier but also for the qualifier and both eliminators. He noted that the decision comes with a key condition: fans should rely on public transport or limit fuel usage due to ongoing national austerity measures linked to the regional fuel situation.
Previously, the government had barred crowds from attending matches as part of efforts to conserve resources. As a result, 40 games in the eight-team tournament were played in empty stadiums. With just four matches left, including the final, fans will now be able to return to the stands.
Naqvi also conveyed that the prime minister extended his best wishes to the four teams competing in the playoffs, expressing hope for an exciting conclusion to the tournament.
The move follows repeated requests from franchise owners, who argued that the absence of spectators diminished the spirit of the league. Some had directly appealed to government officials to reconsider the restrictions.
Meanwhile, online ticket sales for the final have already begun, while physical ticket sales are expected to start. Details for tickets to the other playoff matches are still awaited from the PCB.
