ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Mohsin Naqvi, made an unannounced visit to Islamabad International Airport on Saturday, spending two hours assessing immigration procedures and engaging with passengers traveling abroad.
During his visit, Naqvi directed an immediate crackdown on visa agents involved in fraudulent activities, cautioning that no tolerance would be shown towards those exploiting citizens under the pretense of facilitating overseas employment.
He also addressed a complaint from a passenger regarding insufficient staffing at immigration counters on November 7. Taking serious note of the issue, he ordered a formal investigation and instructed officials to analyze the situation using CCTV footage.
The minister assured passengers and airport staff that similar complaints would not arise in the future and directed swift corrective actions. He stressed that passengers with complete and valid travel documents must not face delays or obstruction in their travels.
At the same time, Naqvi highlighted the harm caused by individuals attempting to travel on fake or unverified documents, emphasizing that such actions jeopardize Pakistan’s international reputation—a risk he declared unacceptable under any circumstances.
He expressed strong disapproval of agents who exploit innocent people with false promises of overseas employment, stating that these actions damage both lives and the nation’s image. He vowed strict measures against those engaged in fraud, underscoring the government’s commitment to eradicating human smuggling and document-related crimes.
The minister reiterated the importance of deterring travel facilitated by fraudulent means and reaffirmed the resolve to dismantle agent networks involved in these illicit activities.
