Naqvi redirects bulletproof vehicles to Balochistan after KP refusal

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Wednesday that bulletproof vehicles would be sent immediately to Balochistan after the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government declined to accept them.

The decision followed a public appeal by Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, who called for the vehicles to be allocated to his province, stressing its ongoing struggle against terrorism.

Sources confirmed that KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi chose not to take possession of the bulletproof vehicles offered to his province. Though no official reasons were disclosed.

Bugti responded by formally requesting on social media that the vehicles be redirected to Balochistan, which also faces significant terrorism-related challenges.

In his appeal, Bugti underlined the persistent threats confronting Balochistan and argued that the vehicles would boost the province’s counter-terrorism capabilities.

Responding promptly, Interior Minister Naqvi confirmed the decision to reallocate the vehicles. He stated that they would be dispatched to Balochistan at once to strengthen counter-terrorism efforts in the region.

Naqvi reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to supporting provinces in their fight against terrorism and ensuring that law enforcement agencies operating in high-risk areas are adequately equipped to maintain security.
