National Security Committee Meeting Begins

Islamabad(May 14, 2018): Meeting of the National Security Committee(NSC) has started under the chair fo Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to discuss the misleading media statement on the Mumbai incident.

Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee, Services Chiefs, DG ISI, National Security Adviser, Federal Ministers and others are present at the meeting.

“NSC meeting suggested to Prime Minister to discuss recent misleading media statement regarding Bombay incident. Being held tomorrow(today) morning,” DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor tweeted.

His remarks were played up by the Indian media as an admission of Pakistan’s involvement in the terrorist attacks, even though similar questions and statements have been raised from civilian and security officials in Pakistan earlier.

Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shahbaz Sharif said on Sunday that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s interview was twisted out of context by his political opponents.

In his address at a public rally in Sindhri, Shehbaz said that India is conspiring against Pakistan by using Afghan soil.

“Our mothers and sisters are being killed in Kashmir. Almighty has made Pakistan a nuclear state. If India casts an evil eye upon Pakistan then the army and people of Pakistan will give a befitting reply,” he said.

Pakistan Muslim League N leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif while defending the statement of Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, said whatever he said was in the best interest of Pakistan.

The statement of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was widely rejected and condemned by the political leaders of the country.

The leader of the Opposition in the Senate Sherry Rehman said PPP has rejected the statement of Nawaz Sharif, and demanded from Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to take back his statement and issue a clarification.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday lashes out former prime minister Nawaz Sharif for his statement over Mumbai attacks and called him “Mir Jafar of the modern era”.

Nawaz, in a recent interview to a newspaper, had said, “Militant organisations are active. Call them non-state actors, should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai? Explain it to me. Why can’t we complete the trial?, the statement of the former PM was declared against the national security by Pakistan Army.
