Nationwide holiday announced on Kashmir Solidarity Day

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a nationwide public holiday on February 5 to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day, reaffirming its support for the people of Indian-administered Kashmir and their right to self-determination.

According to an official notification issued on Sunday, citizens across the country will observe a one-minute silence at 10 a.m. to pay tribute to Kashmiri martyrs. The day is observed annually as a symbol of unity and solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

Authorities said a series of special events, including seminars, rallies, and prayer gatherings, will be organized in major cities and towns to highlight the Kashmir issue and express continued political and moral support.

Government offices, educational institutions, and most private businesses will remain closed during the holiday, while essential services will continue to operate.
