Navy’s Clean-Up Operation Continues in Mubarak Village

Karachi (October 27, 2018): Pakistan Navy clean-up operation being continued near affected Mubarak village coast by the oil spill as more than 100 troops are taking part in the operation.

According to Naval Spokesman, PMSA and other organizations are busy in clean-up operation at affected coastal area and operation will be continued till cleaning of Oil Spilt.Minister Environment Sindh Taimoor Talpur visited ongoing clean-up operation at the site. Pakistan Navy’s Commander Rao Abid, who is heading the operation, brief Minister Environment about the ongoing operation.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also took notice of the oil spill on Karachi’s coast and directed the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) and Sindh Fisheries Department to investigate the incident and report findings to him immediately.

Earlier, Chief Minister Sindh (CM) Murad Ali Shah and Federal Minister for Maritime affairs have taken notice of the hapless incident. Officials in Sindh and Balochistan have launched a separate probe into the matter.The spill was first spotted and reported by local fisherman who works with local fishing communities. This oil slick spreading over one-and-a-half-kilometre in Mubarak Village which has created panic among residents who feel that the marine flora and fauna are under threat.

Mubarak Village, located about 30 kilometres away at Karachi’s coastline, has been home to around 4,000 people. The serene setting of the village sitting at the Arabian Sea certainly fascinates the outsiders or those making it to the captivating beach.
