NCOC Decides To Ease Restrictions After Positivity Rate Drops

Islamabad: National Command and Operation Centre or NCOC has eased coronavirus related restrictions in several cities, but the curbs will continue in cities with above 10% positivity rate.

Pakistan’s coronavirus graph recorded a decline Tuesday after the national positivity rate dropped to 5.40%, according to the data released by NCOC.

The cities with a positivity rate below 10% have been allowed all types of gatherings, gyms, cinemas, shrines, and amusements parks only for vaccinated people, according to the new guidelines of NCOC.

However, the cities where the positivity rate is above 10% will continue to observe the following restrictions

Outdoor gatherings and weddings are allowed with a maximum of 300 fully vaccinated people.


50% capacity is allowed for indoor gyms
50% are allowed for shrines and cinemas as well
Ban on contract sports such as Karate, Boxing, Martial Arts and Rugby
The positivity rate for most of the cities has dropped to below 10%, but the following cities have a high positivity rate: Mirpur (12.21%), Gilgit (39.68%), Hyderabad (12.64%), Karachi(10.67%).

Business timings

Businesses will continue without time restrictions

Public transport

Public buses will be allowed to operate with 70% of their seating capacity. Wearing masks will be mandatory throughout the journey, with a complete ban on serving meals/snacks.

Railway

Railways will operate with an 80% occupancy level.

Office routine

Offices will be allowed to operate at 100% capacity with normal working hours. However, work from home is encouraged.

Domestic air travel/meals

There will be a complete ban on meal/beverages serving during the in-flight journey for domestic travel.

Education sector

With effect from February 2022 vaccination for students above 12 years will be mandatory (at least one dose). No exemption other than medical reasons will be entertained.


Aggressive sentinel testing in educational institutions will be carried out for targeted closures in high disease prevalence education institutes.


Federating units in consultations with health authorities will set a number/percentage for closure of education institutes.


Mask wearing

Compliance with compulsory mask-wearing while incorporating innovative measures for enforcement. Strict adherence to SOPs in mosques and other places of worship be ensured by all federating units.

Targeted lockdown with stringent enforcement protocols based on risk assessment will continue.
