Rawalpindi (February 28, 2018): Former Senator Nehal Hashmi will be released on Wednesday (today) after completing his one-month jail term over threatening speech against the higher judiciary.

According to details, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has made all preparations for the welcome of the PML-N leader and the activists are directed via social media campaign to reach Adiala Prison for the welcome of the leader.

On February 1, the Supreme Court sentenced Senator Nehal Hashmi to one month in prison and disqualified him for five years over contempt of court case against him.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Asif Khosa also disqualified the accused for five years, asking him to submit fine. The decision was abruptly opposed by Justice Dost Mohammad.

The court also rejected unconditional apology plea of Nehal Hashmi.

Afterwards, the former leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has been taken into custody, however, he retains the right to appeal the decision.

The court also ruled that Hashmi stands disqualified from holding public office for a period of five years according to Article 63(1)(g) of the Constitution.
