Islamabad: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Thursday completed hearing for increasing electricity prices by 1.95 rupees.
The hearing was held in Islamabad in the chair of Chairman NEPRA Saif Ullah Chattah on the government request for increasing the electricity prices.
The hearing was told that the government has requested to approve uniform tariff of Rs. 1.95. The hearing was apprised that after the increase the uniform tariff of the electricity will turn Rs 14.85 per unit.
Joint Secretary power division Mahfooz Bhatti informed the authority that it will be applicable to all costumers while the tariff of customers using 50 units monthly will also increase, however, the decision will not be applicable to the K-electric consumers.
The joint Secretary further told that in the previous financial year Rs 144 billion subsidy was given to the electricity consumers while this year Rs 185 billion subsidy will be given.
The officials informed that the increase tariff will burden the electricity consumers of Rs 1495 billion.
