Nepra cuts electricity tariff by Rs2.56/unit

ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has slashed electricity tariff by Rs2.56 under fuel adjustment for the month of August 2016.

As per the tariff cut, about Rs27 billion will be refunded to the consumers out of August’s  electricity bills.

The reduction will not be applicable on consumers using 300 units and K-Electric consumers.

The Central Power Purchasing Agency has requested the Authority to cut power tariff by Rs2.50 per unit under the fuel adjustment mechanism. However, Nepra approved a cut of Rs2.56 per unit in the electricity tariff.

Nepra has also sought details of power purchase and payment from the closed captive power plants.
