NEPRA cuts K-Electric tariff by Rs. 7.60 per unit

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has reduced the tariff of K-Electric by Rs 7.60 per unit.

NEPRA issued a decision on the requests for revision of multi-air tariff for the financial year 2024-2030 of K-Electric, reducing the average tariff from Rs. 39.97 per unit to Rs. 32.37 per unit.

NEPRA officials said that the previous decision of NEPRA regarding the Right of Claims has been upheld. The decision pertains to generation, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity.

Under the decision, the K-Electric tariff has been reduced by 7 rupees 60 paise, but the burden of 50 billion rupees on consumers in terms of Right of Claims has been maintained.

On the other hand, spokesperson K-Electric has said that the decision of NEPRA is being reviewed in detail, the company will decide the future course of action under the applicable laws and regulatory framework.

The spokesperson said that significant changes by NEPRA in other cases are unsustainable for the company, the changes will have a far-reaching impact on stakeholders, especially consumers.
