NEPRA slashes power tariff by Rs 3.32 a unit

NEPRA has slashed the power tariff by Rs 3.32 a unit for the month of May under the head of fuel adjustment. The reduction will provide Rs 21 billion relief to the consumers.

However, the reduction will not be applicable to, and thus would not benefit consumers of K-Electric and agricultural consumers.

The relief will not be applicable to consumers using up to 300 power units a month.

According to statistics NEPRA has fixed the power generation from gas at 22 percent and 36 percent from furnace oil. NEPRA had fixed Rs 4.94 a unit tariff for power generation from Nandipur power plant, however, the production cost came up to Rs 5.84 a unit.
