Islamabad: The National Electric Price Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is unhappy on the electricity distribution companies as it expressed anger on them while it reserved the judgement in the electricity price hike under the three-month adjustment.
The NEPRA hearing on the second three-month adjustment of the current fiscal year was held under its chairman Waseem Mukhtar.
It was told to the NEPRA that electricity distribution companies demanded Rs 84 billion in the second three-month adjustment while whatever the decision it will be applicable to the K-electric as well.
The member NEPRA Sindh Rafique Ahmed Shiekh said that what was happening that they demanded Rs 84 to 85 billion increase adding that the head of Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) is not present, no representative from power division also not in attendance.
He said that too much load-shedding is being conducted while questioned that is no one to taking care of the power sector.
The authority expressing anger on the power distribution companies over not getting replies of the questions, said that an online facilitation was given for ease of the power companies adding that the CEOs of the companies even don’t available online.
In the next hearing the CEOs of the power distribution companies attend the meeting, the NEPRA directed.
During the hearing, the authority remarked that the consumers can’t be burdened blindly adding the why the adjustment charges are higher even where the industries are not exist.
The load-shedding is being carried out even where losses are less adding the letters have been written to DESCOS (IESCO FESCO PESCO SEPCO LESCO HESCO) regarding the pending connections,the authority said.
The authority said that the DESCOS have been weeping on the less sale despite pending 1,17000 connections adding that the sale will be increased with the issuance of the new connections.
If pending connections were given then 1100 mw sale can be increased adding that the new connections are not given and all the loads are being poured on the already stuck consumers, the authority said .
The NEPRA reserved the verdict after completing the hearing regarding the prices.
