Web desk: A number of wildfires are spreading across the Los Angeles area, fuelled by strong winds, engulfing homes, five killing, forcing over 100,000 people, including celebrities have been evacuated.
Devastating wildfires have swept through the affluent neighbourhoods of Los Angeles, California, impacting celebrity homes and resulting in the tragic loss of five lives. Thousands of structures have been reduced to ashes, forcing thousands of residents to evacuate as the flames ravage the area. The destruction and disruption caused by these fires have left an indelible mark on the community.
The number of California homes and businesses without electricity ballooned to more than 400,000 on Wednesday.
The out-of-control fires are leaving firefighters and water supply overwhelmed.
“This is an absolutely unprecedented event. We have another fire that just broke out. Any fire department, even our size is stressed thin,” said LA Fire Department’s Jacob Raabe.
“Southern California is continuing to endure some of the most historic fire conditions on record,” LA City Fire Chief Kristin Crowley said. “The incident is very very dynamic as we speak.”
The developments prompted outgoing US President Biden to cancel his last foreign trip.
