Chennai: New Zealand on Wednesday continuing its winning streak defeated Afghanistan by 149 runs here at MA Chadambaram Cricket Stadium in Chennai.
Glenn Phillips was given the player of the match over his splendid score of 71 runs.
Contrary to win against defending champion England, Afghanistan today showed poor performance as its six batters could not enter double digits while two of them were sent pavilion on duck.
Rahmat Shah was top batter from Afghanistan scoring 36 runs. While others could not make impressive scores.
Other batters with their runs were, Azmatullah Omarzai 27, Ibrahim Zadran 14, Ikram Alikhil 19 unbeaten.

Afghanistan decision to field first could not go in its favour.
Earlier, three half centuries from New Zealand helped it set handsome 289 target to Afghanistan.
Glenn Phillips was the highest scorer from Kivi’s side as he smashed 71 runs of 80 balls with four fours and four sixes.

Will Young and kiwi’s skipper Tom Latham (c) also scored half centuries while albeit made 54 and later one scored 68 runs.
Other batters Rachin Ravindra 32, Devon Conway 20, Mark Chapman unbeaten 25.
From Afghanistan side Naveen Ul Haq and Azmatullah Umarzai got two wickets each. Whereas Mujeeb Ur Rehman and Rashid Khan took one wicket each.
