LAGOS: At least 60 people were killed as roof of a church collapsed in southern Nigeria on Saturday night.
According to the details, the roof of a under construction Reigners Bible Church International caved in on Saturday night in Uyo capital of Akwa Ibom state.
Hundreds of people were inside when metal girders crashed onto the worshipers and corrugated iron roof collapsed.
A rescue officials said that bodies of 60 victims have been recovered. He feared that death toll could increase.
Governor’s spokesperson said that the state government will hold an inquiry to investigate, if any one compromised on building standards.
