Nipa Chowrangi fake encounter: IGP presents report to CM Sindh

KARACHI: Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh A. D. Khwaja on Sunday presented report of the Saturday’s fake police encounter at Nipa Chowrangi, wherein a student was killed and another injured, to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

Chief Minister Sindh directed IGP to take immediate measures to change Thana culture, saying that no one would be allowed to kill innocent citizens in fake encounters.  He directed the IGP to ensure that police must take care of human rights while taking action against anyone.

The IGP briefed the Chief Minister about the encounter and said that an inquiry had been ordered into the encounter. He informed Shah that the two policemen involved in the encounter had been arrested.

It is to be mentioned here that on Friday, a youth identified as Ateeq was killed in what police then described an encounter.  Later it was emerged that the encounter was fake and the victim was a student at Rangers college.

When it emerged the encounter was fake, the Chief Minister took notice of the killing and ordered the inquiry.
