ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan directed to provide foolproof security for Ashura processions across the country and declared 48 cities as most sensitive.
While chairing a high level meeting, Chaudhry Nisar review law and order situating, security measures for Ashura and provincial government recommendations for suspension of cellular service on Ashura.
According to the details, Punjab government requested to suspend cellular service in 16 districts, Balochistan 6 districts, Azad Kashmir in 12 cities. While Sindh and KP governments also requested to suspend the mobile phone services in different cities.
The interior minister approved to suspend cellular services in the recommended areas for minimum time. Internet services will be suspended in the most sensitive cities during Ashura.
Secretary Interior, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, IG police and other high-ups were present in the meeting.
Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan directed to provide foolproof security for Ashura processions, mosques and Imambargahs. He directed to ensure peace in federal capital and asked to adopt zero tolerance policy against violence and miscreants.
