No Agenda Greater than National Security:  COAS Munir

ISLAMABAD: In a powerful address to the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir emphasized that national security remains the top priority, asserting that no individual or movement holds greater importance than safeguarding the country’s security.

The Army Chief called for a collective and unified effort to ensure the stability of Pakistan, stressing that achieving lasting peace requires cohesion among all elements of national power. He highlighted the urgency of improving governance, advocating for Pakistan to adopt a “Hard State” approach. General Munir questioned how long the nation could afford to continue enduring sacrifices under the current “Soft State” model, urging a shift toward a more robust security framework.

In his remarks, the COAS also called upon religious scholars to step forward and challenge the distorted interpretations of Islam that fuel extremism. He emphasized that combating these misrepresentations is essential for fostering a more secure and harmonious society.

General Munir reinforced the need for a unified national narrative that transcends political and personal interests, stressing that Pakistan’s security must always come first. He issued a resolute warning to those who seek to undermine the nation through acts of terrorism, vowing to defeat both the perpetrators and their facilitators.

In conclusion, the Army Chief expressed his unwavering confidence that, despite the challenges faced, Pakistan will ultimately prevail in its fight for peace and security.
