WEB DESK: The Türkiye–Azerbaijan Initiative was officially launched under the auspices of the Institute of Regional Studies. During the opening seminar, Turkish Ambassador Dr. İrfan Neziroğlu emphasized that there are no conflicting interests among Türkiye, Pakistan, and Azerbaijan. He highlighted that trilateral cooperation among these nations is growing steadily, fostering regional stability, economic collaboration, and enhanced connectivity.
The formal inauguration of the Türkiye–Azerbaijan Programme took place on Wednesday, accompanied by a seminar focusing on Pakistan’s relations with Türkiye and Azerbaijan. The event saw participation from numerous diplomats and scholars.
In his speech, Ambassador Dr. Neziroğlu described the ties among the three countries as exceptional, rooted in mutual trust, shared history, and solidarity. He reaffirmed that their cooperation is expanding and plays a vital role in promoting stability and regional integration. He also stressed that there are no conflicting interests between Türkiye, Pakistan, and Azerbaijan.
The ambassador pointed out that in a world facing global challenges—such as instability, conflicts, security threats, and rivalries—regional initiatives are increasingly crucial for small and medium powers.
Azerbaijani Ambassador Khazar Farhadov also spoke, recalling that Pakistan and Türkiye were among the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan and have maintained unwavering support. He expressed optimism about further strengthening these trilateral ties and highlighted the substantial potential to boost bilateral trade between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Farhadov underscored that the launch of the Türkiye–Azerbaijan Programme is a timely and necessary step.
Jauhar Saleem, President of the Institute of Regional Studies, opened the event by praising the exemplary relations among Pakistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan. He noted that the programme aims to foster collaboration among scholars and researchers, supporting academic efforts to deepen trilateral cooperation.
The event included a panel discussion with participating ambassadors, who answered questions from the audience, further emphasizing the importance of this regional partnership.
