Narowall: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal says poverty alleviation is amongst Government’s top priorities.
Addressing a ceremony in Baddomalhi on Saturday, he said the economy is moving towards right direction and all economic indicators are showing positive trajectory.
The Minister said no country can achieve economic stability through riots and anarchy-based politics.
Ahsan Iqbal stressed need for maintaining peace to continue the journey of progress.
On the other hand, chairing a review meeting on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in Islamabad, Ahsan Iqbal has reaffirmed government’s commitment to ensure the timely implementation of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects for economic growth and development.
Emphasized China’s extensive expertise in the development of industrial zones, the minister highlighted that Pakistan has requested China to develop two model industrial zones.
He instructed the Power Division and PESCO to immediately energize the internal network of Rashakai Special Economic Zone.
Reviewing the progress on the training of 1,000 agriculture graduates in China, the Minister directed that experts traveling for agricultural training should be fully facilitated.
He said the Prime Minister will soon announce the 5Es National Economic Transformation Plan Framework, which will be integrated into the five-year development plan, followed by the formulation of a comprehensive National Agriculture and Industrial Policy.
Ministry of Railways and Communications updated on the recent progress of the ML-1 and Karakoram Highway projects and outlined their future course of action.
Meanwhile, presiding over a meeting of New Pakistan Country Partnership Framework of World Bank in Islamabad, the Minister directed ministries to focus on the adoption of emerging technology in order to transform Pakistan into a techno economy.
The World Bank’s strategy was developed considering Pakistan’s socio-economic issues and vision especially “5Es Framework to Turnaround Pakistan” in order to address key challenges and exploit opportunities.
Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal asserted relevant ministries to ensure that the strategy must reflect priorities that are aligned with development framework of the government.
