Members elected on special seats not to take part in presidential elections as PHC extends prohibition order till March 13

Peshawar: No members of National Assembly as well as provincial assemblies will take part in the presidential elections going to be held on March 9, Saturday as the Peshawar High Court (PHC) extended prohibition order tilll March 13, against the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) petition gainst distribution of special seats.

A larger five-member bench comprising Justice Aijaz Anwar, Justice Aqiq Shah, Justice Shakeel Ahmed and Justice Irshad Ali chaired by senior judge Ishtiaq Ibrahim heard the SIC petition against distribution of special seats by the election commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The hearing was adjourned to next date owing to engagment of Attorney General in the Supreme Court.

The PHC has already barred speaker KP assembly to take oath from MPAs elected on the special seats.

Talking to media after the hearing the SIC council Baber Awan said that our seats are not booty that distributed to others.

Baber Awan said that we will not allow snatching of our votes adding that we have to recover this seats from the government and will fight a legal battle

The senior counsel also demanded that a judicial commission be made for the investigation of the form 45.

Referring to Maryam Nawaz, he said ” accept your defeat and give courage to your father and uncle.”

He also demanded to end all the cases registered against the founding chairman of the PTI immediately.
