No talk of President’s resignation or army chief seeking the office: Mohsin Naqvi

ISLAMABAD:  Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi dismissed rumors regarding President Zardari’s resignation and claims that the Army Chief is aspiring to assume the presidential position.

In a statement released on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Mohsin Naqvi stated that he is aware of who is behind the campaign targeting the President, Prime Minister, and Army Chief. He emphasized that the motives behind such efforts are known and questioned who stands to benefit from this narrative.

Naqvi clarified that there has been no discussion or consideration of the President’s resignation, nor is there any intention or desire from the Army Chief to take on the presidency.

He further highlighted that Pakistan’s President maintains a strong and respectful relationship with the military leadership, and that the Army Chief’s primary focus remains on strengthening and stabilizing the country.

The Interior Minister warned those involved in spreading these stories, stating that they are free to collaborate with enemy agencies if they wish, but Pakistan will continue to do whatever is necessary to ensure its strength and sovereignty.
