Islamabad: Minister of State for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja says that we have no desire to shut down the internet but nothing is more important than national security.
IT Ministry is working for the improvement of internet users in the country. We have to ensure the digital security of this country, we have to protect our citizens, we are responsible for the protection and safety of citizens’ data, said Shaza Fatima Khuwaja
Further she said, we are not fond of to turn off the internet and there is no benefit, I don’t have any button in my hand to turn off the internet but some issues are coming due to security reasons, the internet is turned off for security but the landline is totally fine. Nothing is more important than national security.
Shaza Fatima said, PTA has closed X on the instructions of the Ministry of Interior, if there was a problem of freedom of expression, they would have closed Facebook and Tik Tok as well.
Regulatory system comes into action on security concerns, where the user has problems, he apologizes to them, but in April 2025, there will be 4G and 5G spectrum, 7 submarine internet cables land in the country, said Shaza Fatima
Minister of It said, efforts are being made to land 4 more internet submarine cables in the next two years, but the internet will not improve in the country until investment in the telecom sector.
She said, cyber security has to be improved, the country has to be protected from cyber attacks and data leaks, defense has to be strengthened against digital attacks by enemy countries, social contact is something that PTA blocks if there are security concerns. So we try to make it as difficult as possible for the user.
