Operation Ghazab lil-Haq continues with full determination against taliban-backed terrorists: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized on Tuesday that Operation Ghazab lil-Haq is ongoing with unwavering commitment, aimed at safeguarding innocent civilians’ lives and property by targeting terrorist hideouts and support networks linked to the Afghan Taliban regime.

During his visit to the Command and Staff College in Quetta, the prime minister addressed faculty members and student officers. He was accompanied by Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti.

Pakistan initiated Operation Ghazab lil-Haq in February this year, following a breakdown in peace efforts after clashes erupted at multiple border points due to unprovoked gunfire by the Afghan Taliban. This came months after both nations had agreed to a ceasefire in October 2025. However, efforts to reach a formal agreement have stalled, primarily because the Taliban regime has shown reluctance to crack down on terrorist groups operating from within its territory.

During the visit, Shehbaz Sharif praised the professionalism, readiness, and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in defending the nation’s sovereignty and maintaining peace. He paid homage to the martyrs and acknowledged the unwavering dedication of the military in protecting the homeland. The prime minister also reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine.

Referring to the military campaign Marka-e-Haq, PM Shehbaz lauded the historic victory achieved under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. He emphasized Pakistan’s responsible conduct and measured response to India’s unprovoked aggression, highlighting that the country’s prudent stance has been recognized by the international community.

The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs, warning against any misadventure. Marka-e-Haq, meaning “battle of truth,” relates to the 19-day conflict with India from April 22 to May 10, 2025. In retaliation to Indian hostilities, Pakistan launched “Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos,” targeting multiple Indian military sites across various regions. The conflict saw Pakistan shoot down eight Indian fighter jets, including Rafales, and intercept numerous drones. The hostilities concluded after 87 hours with a ceasefire brokered by the United States.

While recognizing the presence of international students during his visit, the prime minister underscored the importance of military diplomacy and regional cooperation. He highlighted Pakistan’s role as a regional stabilizer, contributing to regional peace, stability, and development.

Upon arrival at the Command and Staff College in Quetta, Prime Minister Shehbaz was received by Field Marshal Asim Munir.
