ISLAMABAD: Security forces have initiated a significant operation targeting three terrorists concealed within the premises of Wana Cadet College, as per security sources.
The terrorists, reportedly of Afghan origin, are suspected of receiving instructions from cross-border handlers via telephone communication.
Authorities have confirmed that the terrorists are barricaded in a building distant from the cadets’ living quarters. Operations are being conducted with meticulous planning to ensure the safety of all students and staff on site.
Intelligence reports indicate that the three terrorists remain in contact with their handlers in Afghanistan, coordinating their activities and strategies during the standoff. The area has been secured by security personnel, who are employing advanced surveillance technology and tactical expertise for a methodical clearance of each building.
This operation comes in the wake of a suicide attack on November 10, when an Afghan militant drove a vehicle loaded with explosives into the main gate of Wana Cadet College. The blast caused extensive damage to the gate and nearby structures, inciting widespread panic in the locality.
Security forces responded promptly, engaging with the attackers and eliminating two terrorists in a decisive action. The current mission is focused on apprehending or neutralizing the remaining three individuals hiding inside the college grounds.
