LAHORE: Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani stressed the imperative of addressing climate change and environmental pollution, highlighting their prioritization alongside economic development.
In his address on the second day of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) conference at the Punjab Assembly, Gilani extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests and congratulated the leadership of Punjab and the Speaker for hosting the event.
He highlighted the abundant opportunities available for foreign investors in Pakistan, noting that Southeast Asia faces challenges such as poverty and inequality. To overcome these hurdles, he advocated for regional cooperation and shared responsibility that transcends borders.
The Acting President emphasised that parliaments serve not only as legislative bodies but also as engines of change. He stressed the necessity of ensuring access to quality healthcare and education, asserting that legislation can empower individuals and strengthen society.
