Islamabad: The opposition members in the Upper House of Parliament on Friday protested strongly against the recent hike in prices of petroleum products while they also make uproar while the opposition members also gheraoed the dice of the Chairman Senate and chanted slogan of ‘imported government” not acceptable.
The Senate session was held today in the Chair of Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, the opposition members expressed severe anger on the hike of petroleum prices and after it they symbolically walked out from the session and later protested strongly by lifting placards in the front of the Chairman Senate dice.
Over not ending of opposition members chanting slogans, the Chairman called Sargent at arms which made protective siege around the Chairman Senate dice.
Saddiq Sanjrani ordered the opposition members to go to their seats for protest otherwise they all will be suspended.
The treasury benches declared the uptick in the rates of electricity prices a part of the agreements with the IMF by the previous governments.
Former finance minister, Senator Shaukat Tareen said that this is not the first government who is following the condition of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He said that on some issues we got IMF agreed on our points adding that the PTI government had taken stand that the burden will not be passed on the masses.
He said that it is his suggestion to this government that existing government resign and give fresh elections date.
Minister of State for finance Ayesha Ghous said that yesterday the opposition was saying that the government can’t run without the IMF and today they are saying completely against their previous point of view.
The Minister said that politics should be avoided on the economy.
During the speech of Ayesha Ghous, the opposition members again chanted slogans after which the session prorogued till 4 pm evening.
