Islamabad (August 1, 2017): Opposition parties leaders will meet again today in a bid to field a joint candidate against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) prime ministerial nominee Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Though the PML-N has comfortable majority in the National Assembly to elect its candidate as new chief executive of the country, the opposition parties have deiced to put up a fight.

However, differences have cropped up after PTI unilaterally announced AML chief Sheikh Rasheed as its candidate.
Yesterday, the parliamentary party leaders of opposition parties met to reach a consensus on a single candidate. But the meeting failed.
Today the opposition parties’ leaders will meet again in a bid to field a joint candidate against the PML-N and allies nominee.
However, it seems unlikely the opposition parties agreed on a single candidate.
It is to be mentioned here that PTI, PPP and Jamaat-e-Islami have fielded their own candidates against Abbasi.
