Joint Opposition Stages Walkout from NA; Boycotts Session

Islamabad (June 07, 2017): Joint Opposition in the National Assembly on Wednesday staged walkout again from the Lower House of the Parliament over the issue of not telecasting opposition leaders’ speeches live on PTV.

The National Assembly’s budget session resumed at Parliament House with Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in the Chair.

Soon after the session resumed, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly on a point of order lashed out at the government.

The government has become blind in intoxication of power, he added.

He added “I is unfortunate we are threatening our own institutions for personal interests.”

He added that PPP’s Prime Minister was disqualified within no time but they did not threaten the Supreme Court rather accepted the decision wholeheartedly.

He added that attempts were being made to make the Supreme Court and JIT controversial.

Khursheed Shah said that the CM Punjab’s remarks have scared him. “They [ruling party] are forcing their authority on the people.”

After Khurshid Shah speech, opposition lawmakers led by him staged walkout and boycotted the budget session against not showing of their speeches live on PTV.

After boycotting the session, the Opposition lawmakers held parallel session at the gate of Parliament House.

Opposition lawmakers while addressing the session lashed out at the government.

The opposition staged a walk out from the National Assembly for the 11th consecutive day. The protest started with opposition demanding that their budget speeches be broadcasted live on the state-run Pakistan Television (PTV).

Later, opposition members held a session outside the NA, which was chaired by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Arif Alvi.
